Regional Development Australia Far West in partnership with NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, NSW Department of Industry – Skills and Economic Development, Central Darling Shire Council, Broken Hill City Council and Country Universities Centre Far West are updating the research originallyconducted in 2016 around the workforce development needs of the Far West NSW region.
The previous study provided significant insights into the aspirations, requirements, workforce issues andneeds across the region with more than 120 regional business participating.
Our operating environment has changed over the past few years. Many service providers, training providers and businesses have based their planning around the responses from employers in the 2016 study and wewant to ensure that planning is still relevant with the needs of our employers and various industries in the Far West.
Skill shortages are commonly reported across Australia and have been reported as being amongst the biggest issues
faced in the Australian Labour Market, likewise skill shortages have often been raised in our region as a barrier to growth.
