Make a Difference in your Region

Regional Development Australia (RDA) is a national network of Committees made up of local leaders who work with all levels of government, business and community groups to support the economic development of their regions.

RDAs have an active and facilitative role in their regional communities and a clear focus on growing strong and confident regional economies that harness their competitive advantages, seize on economic opportunity and attract investment.

The strategies and goals of RDAs are changing to meet future demands. RDA Far West is looking for a Director of Regional Development (DRD) to lead an innovative organisation program which is committed to developing its region, to meeting its strategic goals, and to preparing the region for the future.

You will be responsible for assisting the RDA Committee to establish the organisation’s program’s strategic vision and objectives and lead a small team of dedicated staff in achieving these objectives.

You will facilitate the connection between regional businesses or industry sectors and international trade partners and engage with regional entrepreneurs and emerging business leaders to create business forums and support networks for the exchange of ideas, new opportunities and strategies to promote local jobs and growth in the region. You will also facilitate the connection of business proponents to financial markets or other sources of project funds.

The DRD will promote the region’s activities to government, industry, business, and community sectors to highlight competitive advantages and encourage decentralisation. As DRD, you will provide evidence-based advice to governments on critical issues negatively affecting the region, and emerging or current opportunities that can be harnessed with strategic intervention.

Applications for DRD positions are sought from highly motivated and experienced people who are knowledgeable about the economic strengths and challenges of the region.
