The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) Part 3, section 20 (1) (c) recognises the importance and value of public contributions to an agency’s policy and service related decisions. Accordingly, NSW government agencies have arrangements in place to enable citizens to participate in the formulation of the agency’s policies and the way they undertake their work. These arrangements take many forms and we want to hear from you about the best ways to engage to support agencies and public participation.
Public participation is key in achieving Open Government. Public participation happens when citizens affected by government decisions are able to provide their views and have input into the policy development and services provided by government agencies.
You can provide your feedback, share your experiences and vote in our quick polls to contribute to the development resources which will support citizens and agencies in achieving public participation in policy formulation and agency services.
