WaterNSW has appointed a consortium of John Holland, MPC Group and TRILITY to design, construct, operate and maintain the 270km River Murray to Broken Hill Pipeline, as part of the NSW Government’s investment in regional water security.
Construction of the pipeline is expected to generate a peak workforce of around 500 workers. The contractors will use employment services in Broken Hill and Wentworth to help employ more than 150 local people on the project. It is estimated that the local economies will benefit by up to $50 million during construction.
Detailed planning and design works will commence immediately with construction to start in January 2018. The pipeline will be completed and ready for water by December 2018.
Over the coming months, information booths, and training and employment information sessions will be held in Wentworth and Broken Hill.
